This Privacy Policy does not apply to any products, services, websites, or content that are offered by third parties, which are governed by their respective privacy policies and practices.

This privacy policy applies to your use of:

• The Bite Genie mobile app and/or web app
• Our AI features that process user input like recipe text and photos
• Any interactions you have with our support or company directly

Who We Are

Bite Genie is a recipe organization and transformation app developed by Waysor Labs LLC. Our features include recipe analysis and bookkeeping, photo-based recipe input, and AI-powered tools to adapt, enhance, or transform recipes.

Information We Collect

We collect data in the following ways:

Information You Provide Directly

• Account Information: When you sign in using a third-party identity provider (e.g. Google), we may receive your name, email address, and profile picture.
• User Input: You may add recipes, notes, preferences, tags,or grocery lists. If you use features like “Remix,” your saved recipe may be sent to our backend for processing. These are stored securely and only accessible by your account.
• Uploaded Photos: If you choose to generate recipes from a photo (e.g. of a menu or cookbook), the image is sent to our service and may be shared with AI providers to analyze the content.
• Support Requests & Feedback: If you contact us, we store the information necessary to respond (e.g. your email, the issue description, or screenshots you provide).

Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the app, we may collect:

• Device Information: such as model, OS version, and app version.
• Usage Data: metrics such as which features you use and any errors you encounter.
• Crash Reports: diagnostic logs to help improve app stability.

This data helps us fix bugs, understand which features users find valuable, and make the app better.

Use of Third-Party Services

Some Bite Genie features rely on cloud-based AI models (e.g., to rewrite or generate recipes). When you use those features:

• Your input (text or photos) may be processed by our backend and shared with trusted cloud AI providers.
• We strip any identifiable data from these requests unless you include personal details within the recipe itself (which we do not require).
• Our cloud providers may process and store this information according to their own policies. While we aim to choose providers that respect user privacy, we cannot guarantee that your input will not be used to improve or train future versions of their models.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data for the following purposes:

• To deliver the app's core functionality (recipe storage, AI transformation, etc.)
• To personalize your user experience
• To support customer service and respond to requests
• To analyze feature usage and app performance
• To secure the service and protect against abuse or fraud
• To comply with applicable laws

We do not use your data for targeted advertising or sell it to third-party marketers.

Sharing and Disclosure

We only share your personal information in limited circumstances:

• You can view and edit your account information within the app.
• You can delete your account by contacting us at privacy@waysor.com. This will remove your stored recipes and related data from our servers.
• You can control permissions (e.g., camera, photo access) via your device settings.
• You may opt out of optional communications like newsletters or feature announcements if we ever send them.

Cookies and Tracking (Web App Only)

A web version of Bite Genie may use cookies or similar technologies to:

• Remember your login session
• Analyze website usage
• Store app preferences

Currently, the Android app does not use cookies or trackers outside of what is required for functionality (e.g., Firebase analytics).

Data Security

We take data security seriously. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit
• Role-based access to databases
• Regular security updates to our infrastructure

However, no system is 100% secure. Please use strong passwords and protect your device to help secure your account.

We cannot be responsible for the security of data stored on your device. It is your responsibility to ensure your device is properly secured and protected against unauthorized access.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as you have an active account, or as long as needed to provide support or comply with legal obligations.

If you request deletion, we will permanently remove your data unless we are legally required to keep it.

International Users

We are based in the United States. If you are accessing the app from another country, be aware that your data will be processed and stored in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from your own jurisdiction.

Children's Privacy

Bite Genie is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect or solicit data from minors. If you believe we have data from a child under 16, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or email. The date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
